Introducing the Unit: Option 1
Week 1
Starting this week, we’re going to tell
the Bible’s stories about God’s best friend, Moses.

Week 2 onwards:
At the moment,
we’re telling stories about God’s best friend, Moses.

All weeks:
Invite the children to close their eyes.
Let’s close our eyes for a moment.
Let’s imagine we can see our friend
or someone we love right in front of us.
Now imagine that person giving you a big hug!

If there are parents/carers of babies or toddlers present:
Parents and carers, can you give your children a big hug!

Let’s open our eyes.
How did hugging your friend make you feel?
Can you show me with your face?
Accept responses.

God had a best friend! His name was Moses.
Moses made God feel a bit like that.
God LOVED talking with Moses!
We’re going to tell one of the stories about
God’s friend Moses today.

Introducing the Unit: Option 2
Focus: the liturgical colour, green

Who can tell us what colour season we’re in now?
If appropriate: You may have seen it in church.
Invite a child to respond with the colour.

At the moment, the Church is in Green Time!
In Green Time, the Church grows like a tree.
We’re the Church, so we’re going to be growing, too!

When trees grow, first they put their roots down.
Let’s show our roots with our fingers.
Lead the children in wriggling fingers.
Before trees can grow up. Point up
First their roots need to grow down deep, deep, deep!
Lead the children in wriggling fingers down.
We’re going to put our roots down deep in Green Time
by telling some of the very first stories in the Bible.
The stories of God’s best friend, Moses.
